Log of things that kept us awake for our 36 hour stint covering the
Sebi and Grace stayed up 36+ hours to hear President Bush fluff up the war like a Hallmark card. To stay awake we had to provide our own entertainment. Here is a log of the events as they unfolded. Surreal, surreal…

USF’s president Judy Genshaft still is not doing a good job, so I am still writing about her. I am told one of us is getting better though.

New dining initiative needed
Food on the USF campus is sold by one company only: Aramark. This of course creates a monopoly that puts students at a disadvantage.
This is the edit I wrote for my application as Opinion Editor at The Oracle. It got me the job.

Lack of summer classes, budget cuts inexcusable
There are no classes worth taking in the summer. Shouldn’t there be money for classes at a university?

Reuters: Apple to release online music distribution service
This article by Reuters sums up all the rumors that have been floating around for some time now. Frankly, I can’t wait! I am already addicted to Audible.com and can’t wait to have an easy, fast, cheap and also legal way to get music onto my iPod. Oh yeah… and there might be new iPods too. eBay here I come!

LA Times: Apple to buy Universal’s music division?
This has the potential to be huge! If there is one man that can re-invent the music industry it is Steve Jobs. He might be an egocentric maniac at times but he has proven over and over that he has the vision it takes to improve an already great product. Quite ironic though that he chose to show off the stock tracking features of Sherlock 3 at Expo Paris by showing how badly the Vivendi stocks where doing. Was he in talks already back then? Of course they do not exactly need to buy Universal’s music division for this. They could also just go into the business of selling music for a fee. Only time (April 28th is what I hear) will tell.
Update: This has of course been debunked by now.

Marketing does not pause even for war
Not the best as it was written in a car after spending an entire weekend in Atlanta. Take 3 days in Atlanta, two nights with only 3-4 hours of sleep, add 2 car trips of 7 hours each and voila: mediocre column. But at least I did not chicken out. Yay, me!
