iChat AV nonsense
Last night my wife and I tried out iChat AV’s video conferencing capabilities. It works very well, even all the way from the bedroom to the living room. (about 5 meters, really) Of course experimentations like this are highly dangerous (it is a beta, you know?) so we chose to use some crash test dummies for it.

Where I have been and how I scored a new PowerBook
Recent updates to this site have been sparse, mostly for one reason: I was stuck with a 400 Mhz ruby iMac a friend loaned me while my 500 Mhz PowerBook was at Apple for repairs. I really appreciated the loaner as it would at least allow me to get some work done and check my mail, but writing on it was rather awkward. Last Monday I got a call by Apple telling me they checked my PowerBook out and were going to replace it. Yesterday I went to pick it up and was pleasantly surprised…

Designer of the original Enterprise dies
Walter ‘Matt’ Jefferies died last Sunday. The truly visionary designer probably was one of the most influencial scifi artists that ever lived and will be deeply missed.
I really hate this. The people I grew up with, the hero’s of my childhood, are slowly dying off..

Loving the iPod
This is hilarious, but also messed up.
Devon posted this movie about his “relationship” with his iPod.

Homeland Security. The tragic emphasis being on “security”
Just read this and tell me if you think it is ironic.
Not only is Microsoft probably the most unsecure OS out there, it is also interesting that one department (Justice Department) can file a lawsuit because of exploited monopoly positions against them, while another department (Department of Homeland Security) throws $90,000,000 their way.
I’ll just do what I usually do. Shrug, and continue typing on my PowerBook running OS X.

New Slogan: No Terrorists Here.
The University of South Florida is trying to slip of the old stigmatized image and slip on a new one. The way in which this is done though is ridiculous.

AirPort (WiFi) detector
This is exactly what I have been longing for, but not exactly how I had it in mind.

The best software ever
This simply is the best software ever written. And absolutely free!
It has no bugs and does exactly what it claims to be doing. I wish more apps would be like this.
